Cuetlaxochitl is native to Mexico and was used for pigment dyes and medical purposes by the Mexica/ Aztecs. The flower was named Poinsettia after JR Poinsett who brought the flower to the US around 1830. This beautiful plant is now used as the Christmas flower worldwide.
